Programme note

Written during Artūrs Rasa's studies in Oslo, Piano Sonata No. 1 was performed at the Barratt Due Institute of Music on 29 September 2019. Rhythmically concentrated passages are placed against more spacious and lyrical fields, allowing form to emerge through physical gesture, accumulation, memory, tension, and release.
